About Us
Our Mission & Hope
We understand. With nearly 40 million Americans unemployed, we are sensitive to those who don’t have a lot of cash. That’s why our brick and mortar studios (tuck barre & yoga) offer completely free digital classes online via Facebook live. You can take those classes, no strings attached, by following or liking tuck barre & yoga on Facebook here (https://www.facebook.com/tuckbarreyoga/).
Class Descriptions
feel good flow
Feel Good Flow is tuck’s take on a standard vinyasa class. Moving at the pace of your own breath, we move through a thoughtful, alignment-focused flow. Don’t expect tons of chaturangas though – each class is different and will focus on helping clients advance their practices with intention and without ego. While you will move at the pace of your own breath, you won’t get lost in the shuffle at Tuck. We focus on helping students build sustainable practices so we often break down poses that are confusing. Open to all levels.
untuck
Our combination of restorative and yin yoga that is akin to that feeling of a Friday night on the couch. Untuck is designed to help you de-stress, recover and relax. Tailored to the individuals in class, untuck incorporates supported or passive poses intended to address stiffness, range of motion, activated nervous systems and general muscle aches and tightness. This class may incorporate weighted blankets. Open to all levels.
barre
Barre is a full body strength workout that uses high repetition movements and weighted isometric contractions set to music. It’s fun, it’s flowy, and we promise you’ll leave feeling energized and strong! We incorporate low-impact cardio into our classes, but you are offered options to move slower if that works better for you. All levels are welcome (including pre- and post-natal clients), and we encourage you to listen to your body and offer you variations that might feel better for your body that day.
barre bounce
Barre Bounce is tuck’s cardio-focused barre class! This class uses individual rebounders with attached ballet barres for added stability. Don’t know what a rebounder is? Think mini trampoline from the 80s. The rebounders give you a low-impact workout that will give your immune system a boost and help increase your cardiovascular endurance.
In Barre Bounce, we do not bounce for the entire class, rather we will alternate between short cardio bursts on the rebounders and more traditional barre exercises, giving you a beautiful combination of strength and cardio work.
How Tuck Got Its Start
Meet Callie &
Hagana
Callie and Hagana met in Callie’s yoga class sixteen years ago (she was his favorite teacher even though she taught at 6 am). When they opened tuck in 2017, they wanted to create a table big enough for everyone hoping for a place to belong. Their dream was to build a space where people could be warmly and wholly accepted just for being themselves, where folks could practice the art of loving, and where we could connect as humans – not transactionally – but through seeing and understanding each other as we are.
They strongly believe vulnerability builds connection. Every day, they teach you as themselves – there’s no pretense, no perfection, no pretending. They know that in sharing their vulnerability, they are letting you know, “hey, we can’t do this life alone.” And in those moments, they hope you feel more connected, less alone in the world.
